Troubleshooting Tips

• You may be required to use your password or PIN after the first time you log in with newly enrolled fingerprints.
• The "your device is having trouble recognizing you" error message is generated by Windows, not your Verifi fingerprint reader. This error message is almost always a false positive.
• If your fingerprint reader is connected to your computer via USB hub, try connecting the reader directly to one of your computer's USB ports instead.
• Keep your fingerprint sensor clean using a small amount rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
• If your Verifi fingerprint reader suddenly becomes unresponsive even though it was successfully installed, you may need to adjust your computer's power management options. See below.

Adjusting Windows Power Management Options

• Open the Windows Device Manager
• Right-click AuthenTec Inc. AES2550 under "Biometric Devices"
• Select "Properties"
• Open the "Power Management" tab (you must be logged on as an administrator to see this tab)
• Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
• Click "OK"
